Recto

The face of the card

Lay one card face on the public cloth.

Recto is a playing-card cloth on BOT Chain: you make a face with three moves on the card, then lay() puts it on the public cloth. You pay gas only, and lift() takes your own live card off.

How a face is laid

  1. Turn Drag across the back of the card and it turns face-up in your hand.
  2. Cut the suit Drag from the center out through an edge: top is spade, right is heart, bottom is diamond, left is club.
  3. Run the rank Drag along the ticks to set the rank, king at the top down to ace at the bottom.
  4. Lay or lift lay(suit, rank) puts the face on the cloth for gas only; lift() later takes your own live card off, and then you may lay again.

02

Why one face

A deck is a lot of decisions made at once. Recto takes one: the face you put down, and the hand that put it there. The card on screen is not a preview of a menu — the drag is the input, and the face you see is the face that gets stored.

The cloth is public. Anyone can read which suit, which rank, and when each live card arrived, so the record is the page. Nothing is hidden behind a button and nothing is drawn from a pool: if two wallets lay the same face, both faces stand.

There is no pot on the table. The contract stores a suit, a rank, and a time, and it never holds BOT. That keeps the question simple — do you want this face on the cloth, under your wallet, right now.

03

Cloth rules

No BOT is deposited — lift() takes your own live card off the cloth, and the old face stays in chain history.

04

Who sits down

Collectors of small, specific things — a wallet that wants one face on record and does not want a marketplace around it. The cloth is a place to put a mark, not a place to trade one.

People building a public habit: a daily face, a face that matches a date, a face chosen by a friend over the phone. Because duplicates are allowed, the same card can be laid by many wallets without anyone owning the idea of it.

Wallets that want a real write and a real read: lay once, read the card back, lift, lay again. Gas is the only cost, and the exit is a single call from the same wallet.

05

Asked over the cloth

How do I make a face?

Three moves on the card itself: drag across the back to turn it, drag from the center out through an edge to cut the suit, then drag along the ticks to set the rank. Suit runs spade, heart, diamond, club. Rank runs ace through king.

What does lay() cost?

Gas only. There is no BOT fee and no deposit, and the contract never holds BOT. You pay the network cost of the transaction and nothing else.

Can I change my card after laying it?

Call lift() from the same wallet to take your live card off the cloth, then lay a new face. Only the wallet that laid the card can lift it, and a lift is gas only.

What happens to a lifted card?

It leaves the cloth but stays in chain history with its suit, rank, and time. Nothing is refunded because nothing was paid in. The old face is still readable.

Can two wallets lay the same face?

Yes. Duplicate faces are allowed, and there is no unique 52-card deck to reserve. Each wallet may hold one live card at a time, and the cloth shows every live face as laid.

Which chain is this on?

BOT Chain mainnet, chain id 677, with BOT as the native token. The explorer at scan.botchain.ai shows each lay and lift once confirmed.

06

Next impression

Now

lay and lift are the cloth: one live card per wallet, and the reads are the live count and any card by id.

Next

A steadier hand on the three drags, so a short pull still refuses and a full one still sets the face.

Later

A plain view of chain history for lifted cards, so an old face can be found by wallet and time without a separate index.

Beyond

Keep the table small: no bets, no payouts, no reserved deck, and no change to the rule that the contract holds no BOT.

07

Lay the next face

Turn the card, cut the suit, set the rank, and put one face on the public cloth. When you want it back, lift() from the same wallet takes your card off; nothing is refunded because nothing was paid in.
